International stakeholder engagement
Law enforcement agencies represent a frontline of effort to counter national, regional, and global terrorism threats involving radioactive materials. Their insight is vital for effective action wherever strategic decisions and partnerships are made.
At INTERPOL, we ensure sustained and strategic advocacy at the international level to communicate law enforcement needs, analysis, and perspectives in the radiological and nuclear security space.
Through multilateral dialogue and action, we leverage best practices and effective countermeasures to develop curriculum, intelligence reports and tools for the law enforcement community. This approach ensures that INTERPOL member countries have state-of-the-art resources ready to stay ahead of terrorism threats involving radioactive materials.
We collaborate with international partners, such as the IAEA, UNODC, UNOCT, UNICRI and WCO as well as and specialist organizations and share close working relationships with the US Department of Energy’s Offices of International Security, (INS), Office of Radiological Security (ORS) and Nuclear Smuggling Detection and Deterrence, (NSDD) as well as Global Affairs Canada (GAC) and UK Department of Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ).
